Greetings Bright Sparks of Hibanacon, and welcome to another update on the convention.
First thing up is panel submission. Volunteering to run a panel will close fairly shortly on September 23rd. If you have an idea for something you want to talk about, or a demo you want to give then please do get in touch with our events officer here. Our events officer is always on the look out for new and interesting events, so if you think there's something you could interest other people at the convention with then feel free to drop them a line, and they'll get in touch. If you have technology requirements please do mention them as we need to make sure our tech team is on standby for you.
The second thing we want to remind you about is the Masquerade. We love seeing you in the cosplay that might be impractical for the floor, that you might not want to wear for long periods, or that you might just want to show off. The time limit here is a bit longer as we can take submissions up until November 7th. Please note that for logistical reasons we cannot take sign-ups on the day so please sign up in advance to not miss out! Click here to submit your masquerade entry.
Bring & Buy
Next up we're going to be changing how the Bring and Buy works. There will be more information on this once we finish testing but there will be online submission for Bring & Buy items this year, and you will need to print out & label your Bring & Buy items beforehand. This should make things much quicker for us and yourselves when it comes to running the Bring and Buy.
Finally we are, as ever, looking for volunteers to gopher at Hibanacon. To keep Hibanacon running as a safe, and friendly environment we rely very heavily on our gophers to perform badge checks, run messages, or even hold the fort in Ops if nature calls. We really do appreciate those who give their time, even if it's only a couple of hours over the whole weekend, to help us make sure we give everyone the best convention we can. There's no real deadline for this, and we are taking signups on the day but if you'd like to get involved then please do head to Ops during the weekend and we'll have something for you to do. If you want to get in touch beforehand to make sure gophering is right for you then please take a look here for more details.
Well that's it for this update, we'll be back next week to talk to you about our chose charity for 2019!
