Hibanacon Discovery Postponed due to Covid-19

An update from the Hibanacon Committee regarding Covid-19 and its effect on Hibanacon Discovery.

Greetings Bright Sparks,

 

We hope you are all safe and well in these difficult times.

 

We have been monitoring the Covid-19 situation closely over the last few months and have been exploring the adaptions that would need to be made to Hibanacon to potentially allow the event to go ahead if government restrictions on gatherings were to be eased.

 

Throughout the discussions, our primary concern has been the safety of our attendees and volunteers. We have considered a number of scenarios and options to try and find a solution that would allow Hibanacon to run safely whilst delivering the quality you've come to expect from us. Sadly, we have concluded that none of the solutions would meet our objectives.

 

It is with regret and great sadness that we must therefore announce Hibanacon Discovery is officially being postponed and will not be running in 2020.

 

This is not the outcome we had hoped for and we understand that it will be disappointing news to you. However, we can also reveal that this is only a postponement. We plan to return and run Hibanacon Discovery from 12th - 14th November 2021.

 
Any tickets already purchased for Hibanacon Discovery will automatically be transfered to our new date in 2021 and will continue to be valid.

 

Undoubtedly you may have questions, so we have tried to address as many of them here as we can:
We understand that not everyone will know if they are able to attend Hibanacon Discovery in 2021 at this stage, so we will also be offering refunds on tickets already purchased.

 

If you wish to claim a refund, please email refunds@hibanacon.co.uk with the following information:
- Your badge name
- Your ticket number

 

After we receive your email we will contact you to confirm details enabling us to finalise your request. Please note we will not be accepting refund requests via social media at this time.

 

We aim to process refund requests in batches, so please be patient and we will contact you as soon as we can. The window during which refunds are available will be open until 31st December 2020, after which any requests will be subject to our normal terms and conditions.

 

If you have already booked accommodation for Hibanacon, we encourage you to contact your hotel at the earliest opportunity to discuss your options. Hibanacon is unable to assist with hotel queries as they are handled directly with the hotel you've booked with.

 

For anyone that has volunteered to run events with us in 2020, we will be in touch with your shortly.

 

If you were due to be a vendor at Hibanacon Discovery 2020, the same automatic transfer and Covid-19 policy will apply. Please contact us on social@hibanacon.co.uk if you need to discuss any changes or cancellations.

 

We very much hope you will all be able to join us at Hibanacon Discovery in 2021 and if you do choose to roll your ticket forward then we wish to express our sincere thanks. We appreciate your support during this difficult time and your decision will enable us to work hard to make 2021 the best event possible.
